After 25 years in the corporate business world I quit my job as an Administrative Assistant and decided to do something worthwhile. I became a Nursing Assistant and worked as a live-in caregiver for an agency, spending three days a week for five years with an elderly woman until she passed away. I was with her at the end. I often said I worked for 1/3 the money and 3 times the reward! I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. The only problem I saw was how much money the agency charged, compared to what they paid! Craig HomeCare actually focuses on serving the rural and underserved areas of the Midwest so that families don't have to move to big cities to get nursing assistance. I would suggest doing an internet search for pediatric home care agencies in Florida. There might be some out there that you haven't heard of yet. I know that many home health agencies provide respite care services. </p><br /><p>I have found this work to be very rewarding already. Here in our county (in Florida), my son qualifies for nursing, but the only place that does pediatric nursing says I must have someone for 40 hours. They won't staff for anything less than that. I really don't need someone for that many hours a week, plus my house is tiny - less than 800 square feet. It would be difficult to have someone here for that many hours. I don't really understand the mindset of only doing 40 hours. Any ideas?<br /><br />I pray you continue to enjoy your work.
